Cecilia Jeffery #2 – Kenora, Round Lake
The team at Grand Council Treaty #3, led by Nathan DeGagne, along with anthropologist Mireille Lamontagne and archaeologist Nick Kuncewicz, have been working closely with the CJ Advisory Council (represented by Kathy McIvor) in the search for unmarked graves and to honor the children who never made it home from the school. They are also working toward having the land returned to the First Nations of Treaty #3. The school operated at the Round Lake location from 1929 to 1976, with approximately 1,600 children attending during that period.
