Rachel Kakegamic

Director, NAN Reclamation & Healing

Rachel Kakegamic is the Director of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation Reclamation and Healing department. She is a member of Peguis First Nation is Treaty 1 Territory. As a mother of eight and an intergenerational survivor, Rachel is no stranger to breaking cycles. Because of the effects of the residential school system she experienced in her own childhood, Rachel pursued a Masters degree in Social Work to help others on their healing journey. She strives to use her extensive knowledge of working in child welfare, mental health, clinical therapy and healthcare to support the and address the needs of survivors of the Indian Residential School system.
