Nicole Marion-Patola is the Director of Litigation and Residential Schools Research at Know History. With a PhD in Canadian History from Carleton University and extensive experience conducting historical research, Nicole applies her knowledge to support Indigenous litigation and Residential School research projects. Nicole has been certified as an expert historian with the Federal Court of Canada and has provided expert opinion before the Quebec Superior Court.
In recent years, Nicole has collaborated with communities and working groups in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and the Yukon to share the truth about Residential School experiences and to locate missing and disappeared children. This involves designing research plans, navigating archival policies, and collecting and analyzing historical records. Nicole and the Know History team have databased over 50,000 records related to Indian Residential Schools, collected from archives across Canada, the United States, and Great Britain.
Nicole is a mother to three young children and is based out of Calgary, Alberta.
