Dr. Mark Mackisoc is the Team Leader of the Residential Schools Death Investigation Team, reporting to Dr. Dirk Huyer, the Chief Coroner for Ontario. Mark has 30 years of experience as a police criminal investigator and holds a PhD in History and International Relations from the Royal Military College of Canada. He has four children and lives in Kingston, Ontario. Since the team’s inception four years ago, Mark has travelled extensively across Ontario assisting Survivors and communities with the sacred work of finding their children. The team uses its legal authority under the Ontario Coroners Act to access records from any source. Coupled with their collaboration with lead communities, this has enabled them to find answers for every child they have searched for.
